I have a 2 year old Maltese with a mild case of mange. I read several places that neem oil helps with the symptoms does anyone know if health food stores, drugstores, or petstores carry the product? And does this product work, for a small dog with mange, if not what does?

The thing is, mange is a generic term for many skin problems. You need to find out EXACTLY what it is. Treating it randomly can do more harm than good.

Neem oil is more for getting rid of parasites. I haven’t had any luck with it, but I know people who swear by it.

I am not sure if my Bernese mountain dog, STARDUST, has fleas or sarcoptic mange. So I was going to treat her sudden constant scratching at her elbows, ears and neck with FRONTLINE COMBO. But I can’t find any information on pack about whether it is any good for the treatment of sarcoptic mange. Anyone out there know if it is? Of course I will go to the vet but just wanted to try to immediately ease her obvious itching. Any help gratefully received. Love Robbie and itchy Stardust x x

take your dog to the vet to get a proper diagnosis and proper treatment

OK, so here we are 6 weeks after we started treating Crusty. He IS growing hair, but still has some way to go before he’s out of the woods. You can see how long a process it is to treat dog mange! I think I messed up by trying to do this with less ivermectin. I should have done 1 dose every 2 weeks, three times. We probably would have been further along. He’ll get his third ivermectin dose tomorrow, as he has new crusty lesions on his head and today I detected tape worms (yuck). He continues to get sulpur homeopathic drops daily, plus the mange dip once a week. It is possible, apparently, to treat this condition without the use of toxic agents like ivermectin, but it can take a very long time (up to 6 months), which is not an option for me; plus also for that he needs twice daily remedies and because he’s a street dog with a large territory we can never find him twice per day. Hence we have opted for the allopathic route.

Demodex mange is a skin complaint in dogs that's due to them having a reaction to small parasitic mites. Does your dog have mange? Read on and discover a home cure for dog mange. But in some young puppies this does not occur and the mites cause redness, scaly inflamed skin and alopecia. You can see 1 or 2 express areas of irritation round his eyes and nose. Mange typically starts off as a local problem on the young dog’s face. Sadly only about twenty percent of the mites are on the surface of the skin meaning there's an eight out of ten probability that the dumping will not show any mites.

Generally mange first shows itself as baldness especially on the belly, haunches, ears and face. Treatment for mange The best treatment is prevention and that suggests using products like Frontline and Advantix which act as mite repellents. Bald patches of skin with zit like bumps are also common with mange. This can occur when the animal is continually scratching to get shot of the mites. Most all animals with mange will get the secondary bacterial infection.

Alopecia also will be a conspicuous factor for Mange. At last your dog will die if no treatment has been provided they can die of a secondary bacterial infection, dehydration, or merely pure exhaustion. A good medicated shampoo will achieve success in treating this mild case of mange. Sarcoptic is another sort of mange which is a little more major, but simple to treat if diagnosed in time. So a large amount of caution should be used when dealing with and handling a dog which has been diagnosed as having this sort of mange. The dog will have uncontrollable itching and patchy hair loss. Use more than one application of petrol jelly if obligatory. Not merely will this kill the mites by suffocating them, it may also supply a soothing touch to your dog’s sore skin. Since dog mange can instantly become quite major, for most satisfactory results, it is important to begin to use homemade treatments as fast as you notice the start of a difficulty.

Mange happens, much of the time, in dogs that aren't clean and healthy, but this isn't always the case. Mange is awfully transferable, so if your healthy pet has been around another animal which has been tormented, there's a possibility that he'll also contract the illness. Some of the signals of mange are exaggerated scratching. If your dog is healthy, he'll have a good immune reaction which will help to defeat the bugs. It is exceedingly important when you first spot indications of Mange to see a Vet immediately. As symptoms progress your dog will get worse with no treatment.

One of the largest concerns with mange is the secondary bacterial infection. This occurs when the animal is continually scratching to lose the mites. Alopecia also will be a very noticeable factor for Mange. Herbal additions alone would possibly not be a powerful enough home cure for treating mange, so as well as herbal additions, you can also wish to apply aloe vera, Vitamin E and tea tree oil right to the areas of your dog’s skin that are influenced by dog mange. These herbal treatments are given orally in most situations. Some pure important oils are noxious, so be certain to read the instructions and cares before applying important oils to your dog’s skin. The products you choose should be endorsed for topical use. When a patch of skin gets infected and the dog’s defenses are feeble, then you have got the potential for much more serious problems.

That immunological reaction can be further stressed by infection due to the dog’s continued scratching and rolling around. Symptoms of mange Knowing the symptoms is critical because even the vet will have trouble positively identifying mange. The standard test is to take a skin scrapping and putting it under the microscope. You should mix four oz into one gallon of water and wet the dog’s hair and skin utterly. Sometimes mange first shows itself as alopecia especially on the belly, haunches, ears and face. This treatment should be done each 3 weeks for three months. I will not tell you how splendidly this treatment worked. After just two treatments of the dip and oatmeal shampoo, Oreo was starting to look better.

Though this skin affliction is far more plentiful in dogs, pussies can and do get the mange. So what exactly is mange, what sort of mange can a feline contract, and what are the symptoms and the treatments? Mange is a skin disease that comes in a few forms and causes. This very itchy and tough to cure mange can spread over the entire body. With this skin condition your pussy will most probably develop skin welts, itching, and in harsh cases, the loss of large quantities of hair. There are plenty of shampoos, medicines and injections to regulate mange but there also are homemade treatments that will work just as well without the chemicals. However, early treatment brings some success.

As well as treatment, some cases of mange are bad enough that shaving or quarantine is needed to keep it from transmitting to other pets. Some home cures for mange include : Brush the animal’s fur constantly. First off it has to tackle the essential reason for mange, which is the miniscule parasitic mange mites. And thirdly it additionally needs to raise his immunological system so that he may help to fight off the mange mites himself. Second , it must ease his sore skin.

The best dog mange treatments will have to tackle all 3 of these if they are to have a chance of getting on top of the difficulty. He is depending on you to help him out and keep his symptoms in hand. Also, dogs that do not practice good cleanliness are more susceptible to mange than any other pets. And therefore the right way to forestall mange is to ensure that your pet gets the best attention both in its cleanliness and food habits. Give your dog the most tasty food around so its body defense system gets stronger by the day. The mites will reproduce and when that occurs, there'll be a strong odour coming from the area affected.

And ensure that your dog gets its daily bath and regular grooming too to ensure that no mites or bugs would even try to come near to it. Your pet could also develop blisters and bleeding. Treating your dog naturally is always the least risky way to go, but in grim cases, it is best to make a trip to your vet. If you think that your dog has mange, you will wish to raise your pets immune reaction with herbal additions.

Mange is a skin illness that comes in one or two forms and causes. Though this skin disorder is far more common in dogs, cats can and do get the mange. With this skin condition your kitty will likely develop skin welts, itching, and in serious cases, the loss of large quantities of hair. It can be mild to extraordinarily protracted and it's always due to bugs. The mites will reproduce and when that occurs, there'll be a sharp odour coming from the area affected. Treating your dog naturally is always the soundest way to go, but in harsh cases, it is a good idea to make a trip to your vet.

Your pet could also develop blisters and bleeding. First off it must tackle the base reason for mange, which is the miniscule parasitic mange mites. If you believe that your dog has mange, you'll be wanting to beef up your pets immune reaction with herbal additions. The best dog mange treatments will have to tackle all 3 of these if they're to have any chance of getting on top of the issue. Secondly, it must soothe his inflamed skin. Mange is a genuine irritation for your dog.

Also, dogs that do not practice good cleanliness are more susceptible to mange than any other pets. He is counting on you to help him out and keep his symptoms in order. And the simplest way to forestall mange is to be certain that your pet gets the best attention both in its cleanliness and dieting habits. Give your dog the most delicious food around so its body defense system gets stronger by the day. And make sure your dog gets its daily bath and regular grooming too to ensure that no mites or bugs would even try to come near to it. They may do this because scratching can cause secondary skin issues like bacterial diseases. Common treatments include administering prescribed medicines, using anti-fungal shampoos or dips, and maybe applications of iodine.

The treatment for mange relies upon the precise diagnosis. Mange is a non-contagious illness and not life-threatening unless untreated, permitting it to spread unmanageably. Keeping your dog clean will also go a good distance at forestalling skin related issues like mange, sores, and hot spots.
