Can cats catch the mange? If so how can I make her better?
I noticed a few months ago that she had missing hair under her tail, but since she is an outside cat I thought nothing of it, maybe she got caught in something. Today I noticed she has lost hair inside her legs also.
I have 3 other cats and a dog, do I have to treat them all? She is pretty isolated from them.
Mange it NOT something to mess around with.
You absolutely must take her to the vet and get her checked.

Cat Mange?
I have 2 kittens and a full grown female. They have hair loss on their body, head and paws. It’s not really that bad, sometimes you cant even tell some hair is missing. They do scratch themselves but not to much. On the adult her hair comes right off and leaves hair everywhere. but other then the hair loss the cats look fine and healthy
Does it sound like mange or possibly ring worms?
I’m thinking about using Lyme Dip. Would that help?
DO NOT use lyme dip on a kitten!!! Do NOT use any over the counter lyme dip on any cat EVER. What you describe could be any number of things and needs to be evaluated by a licensed veterinarian. Call your vet!

Does this stray cat have mange?
Lately I have been feeding allot of stray cats that seem to live outside in the forest in my backyard. Today this new cat came around to my house and I tried to give it some food, it was surprisingly friendly and responsive. But the poor thing had half the hair off his tale gone (from the side where it connects to the body) plus hairloss from the tips of his ears, face and on his back where his shoulder blades are. And he has scabbing in those areas and it looks like bad skin too.
Sounds like it may have mange and needs help. There may be a local vet in your area who offers discounted rates for feral cats, I know there are lots of those type of services in my area.
There are two types of mange that cats can get, one is bacterial and one is from mites. Neither of them are dangerous to humans, although I would still handle the cat carefully until it is treated.
The most humane treatment for all of these cats would be to trap them, take them to the vet for discounted services and get them spayed and neutered.
I had a neighbor feeding a couple of strays years ago, they bred and bred and soon there was a huge herd of cats living on the hillside behind out homes. They would get injured or sick and had no human assistance…she would just supply the food that attracted them there and they were an enormous nusciance, fighting with my cats, digging in my yard and garden, making lots of noise and just generally being pests. If you fix them, you won’t subject your neighborhood to this sort of problem.
There may be an organization in your area that assists with this. Try doing seaches for local cat rescue.

How do i get rid of scabies or mange on my cats.?
Ok so i live on a farm and currently have 5 adult cats and 10 kittens. They look pretty rough. Some of them have patches of hair missing which i am assuming is from mange or scabies. I am wondering if there is any way to treat all of them easily without having to spend so much money to go to the vet. Does anyone know of a way to kill them with an at home treatment that would be easy use. They live in a little barn like building which use to have hay in there but i recently cleaned it out. It still doesn’t seem like anything has helped.
The only way to rule out mange (scabies) is for the vet to do a skin scraping and look for the mites under a microscope. Infection and ringworm can mimic the appearance of mange. It’s best to have them checked out and let the vet prescribe medication for them. There is no home treatment for mange…a carefully controlled dose of medication is needed based on body weight. If it is mange mites, they don’t live in the environment, only down in the deep skin layer, so cleaning the barn won’t make a difference. Find a vet who understands you have a bunch of farm cats and can’t spend a lot…maybe he can help you out.

can cats catch mange?
yes
Notoedric mange is the scabby, scaley, skin disease resulting from infection by the feline mite Notoedres cati. Notoedres mites are closely related to Sarcoptic mange mites of dogs and thus the two infections have some similarity. Both conditions typically begin with itchy crusts and scales an the ear margins. Notoedric mange progresses to involve the face and ultimately, if the skin disease is ignored, it will cover the cat’s entire body. The term “scabies” is somewhat colloquial and refers to a mite infection with any of the mites in Sarcoptidae family. In the United States, this infection is considered rare with regional “hot beds” of infection. Many veterinary dermatologists never see this condition in their entire careers. The Southern California area, however, is such a hot bed and here the infection is very common. Our practice sees at least one case of Notoedric mange each month.

It’s possible your cat may have parasitic infection (dermatophytosis/ringworm) or skin fungus which can also contribute to fur loss as well.
Consider ringing your vet to discuss arrangement for a thorough evaluation.
