You won’t necessarily see "mites" but the dogs skin will be scabby and pussy, and there will be significant hair loss. Skin also might look like "elephant" skin.

They are microscopic. So, to you, they look invisible. If you suspect your dog has any sort of mange, take it to the vet. They will need to take a skin-scraping and examine it under a microscope to make a diagnosis. Mange can also be very uncomfortable. Your pet should get proper diagnosis for proper treatment by a vet.
